Device health check
Wialon introduces the device health check feature — a tool designed to proactively monitor the health of trackers and sensors. This functionality enables users to detect hardware anomalies early, preventing minor issues from escalating into significant problems that could disrupt operations.
The device health check will be enabled by default to make it readily available. However, if needed, partners can easily manage the service by activating or deactivating it through the CMS Manager. The next step is to set specific criteria for each unit in the unit properties. They include battery level, data transmission frequency, GPS signal status, connection quality, and status of certain sensors. Based on these criteria, the system analyzes real-time data and automatically categorizes each unit as "Healthy," "Needs attention," or "Unhealthy," making it easy to identify devices that require maintenance or further investigation.
The health status of each unit is displayed in a color-coded pie chart on the Dashboard tab, providing a quick overview of device behavior. Additionally, users can hover over units categorized as "Unhealthy" or "Needs attention" to see a tooltip explaining why they were placed in that category, offering clarity on any detected issues. Users can also enable charts for each specific criterion to gain more detailed insights.
This feature not only helps reduce costs by minimizing unexpected hardware failures and the need for repairs but also decreases downtime through timely interventions, ensuring devices continue to operate efficiently. By maintaining hardware health, Wialon partners and their clients can enjoy uninterrupted service, leading to greater customer satisfaction.
We encourage you to explore the device health check feature once it becomes available. As this is the initial (MVP) release, your feedback will play a key role in refining the tool and shaping future updates. Please share your insights through the dedicated form on the Dashboard tab.
Video download manager
We are also introducing the video download manager, designed to streamline video file management within Wialon. This feature gives users a clear view of the status and progress of their video downloads, improving both efficiency and overall user experience.
The video download manager will display files currently downloading or those that have encountered errors directly in the Files tab. Users will see key details for each file, including the file name, tags, event date, and time. If a download fails, users will have the option to retry it with a simple click.
This feature will improve the user experience in several ways. By tracking download progress, users can quickly access important video files as soon as they’re ready. Additionally, the clear status updates make managing downloads straightforward and hassle-free.
