What’s new in Wialon
April 4, 2023
New password requirements
To improve data security, we have developed new requirements for user passwords. Now, the password must contain at least 8 characters, at least 1 special character, uppercase and lowercase letters, and must not completely match the username and the previous password. We also added the ability to view entered passwords in the forms where you create or change user passwords.
Vehicle VIN codes in the unit properties
Some GPS devices send the vehicle's VIN code to Wialon. Now, when filling in the unit properties, the user will see a tooltip that the system has automatically determined the VIN of the device. The suggested option can be accepted or rejected in the Profile tab or by clicking on
"Check VIN."
New login page for Wialon Hosting
Attention: so far, these changes are relevant to hosting.wialon.com, hosting.wialon.eu, hosting.wialon.us and other regional Wialon DNS.
All users start getting acquainted with Wialon from the login page, and this is when the first impression of the platform is formed. That's why we've done a massive redesign of the login page to make it look more up-to-the-date and pleasing to the eye. Now, the login form consists of two parts: a picture and fields with buttons necessary for authorization. When a user enters the page, a random picture from five pictures is selected.
We’ve also improved navigation via the Tab button, adapted the page to different screen resolutions, and added a timer to the button intended to resend the link for the two-factor authentication.
We’ve also changed the animation that appears on the screen after clicking on the login button so that it also matches the new page style.
The changes affected only the UI of the page elements, without affecting the functionality.
Color scheme migration for the new login page
As we’ve redesigned the Wialon login page, the migration of color schemes has also been carried out for it. In particular, we ensured the correspondence between the old and the new color schemes and also styled the page for the latter. You can select the color scheme in the user settings. The currently available options include light, gray, default (updated login page), and default (old login page).
Improved route visibility on the map in the Routing tool
In March, we also worked on the rendering of the main and alternative routes in the Routing tool. Now, the routes are better distinguishable on different maps.
Creating an unlimited Locator link via a notification
Now, in addition to the manual method, you can also create a Locator link that doesn’t expire via a notification by entering “0” in the notification tag. If you enter an invalid value, the link expiration time will be set to 60 minutes by default.
Bug fixes for vector maps
We’ve fixed several vector map errors as some of the elements had been displayed incorrectly. Now, the borders of buildings, rivers, roads, and parks are clearly visible just like on raster maps. On top of that, we added the display of the US state names.
Filling in the forms on the Trailers tab
We keep making filling in various forms in Wialon easier. This time, we introduced the new validation logic to the fields in the "Add trailer" and "Trailer properties" forms. Now, users can spot the incorrectly filled fields, fix them, and submit the form faster.
