APP "driving logbook" for EU-Taxmen

Here in Estonia we have same demand from our Taxes department. If driver use company car for own trips, driver must fill logbook where mark separately business trip and own trip.

so +1 come from Estonia for this idea

Yep, it is important feature that will be available on Wialon Hosting in one of next updates this year.

GoGPS, it is better to post here, cause we count at least 3 EU customers that are requesting the features: from DE, NL, EE.
It will be difficult to sync all opinions by email.

sounds good until now, but a "legal" driving logbook (in whole EU as i know) needs to have also following reports:

Start_Date, StopDate, Startadress,Stopadress,StartKM, StopKM, Who was visited!!!! and flag Private/Business/Gazoline-Station

We are getting so much demand for it....

GoGPS, I suppose that at 2nd conference day exact details about "how this feature should be implemented before we will release next Wialon Hosting update" should be discussed with all patricipants from EU.
AFAIK currently your requirements are differ, this blocking from us implementation stage.

Driver Logbook implemented as Wialon App will be available for usage starting from upcoming upgrade.
This Wialon App implemented as opensource (using sourceforge) so everybody may use and enhance it with own interface/feature. We will place its source codes to public place in next few weeks.

i very much like the Driving-Logbook, but i (our customers) can not use it because there is no KM value in the reports.
For Legal usage we need to write in our "drivinglogbook" the start-km of of the Odometer and the stop-km of the odometer and the distance...

Any chance to get this fields added?

Driving logbook needs the following informations:
Unit-Name, Date when report was generated
than:
Date/time of start of trip, start adress, date/time of end of trip, end adress, start-km, end-km, driven km, flag private/business, comments(free text)

purpose for this information is, that government (taxmen) can check how many km you drive private and how many km you drive for business. than they calculate some kind of quote and the driver has to pay for the private usage for each km some money.

I think as this data is already available, it should be just some simple code changes or?

Hi Guys,

when discussing with existing customers and potential customers about driving logbook they show us always the leading competitor plattforms here in germany (namely tomtom) and they have a "button" which they can connect to the gps tracker which has two functions: "Private" and "Businesstrip".

So they just click on the button to enable private trip and do not need to add this information manualy at the "driving logbook" software.

Any chance to get such a function implemented?

For exampe: If digital input x (should be configurable in the driving logbook, for example in1 or in2 or in3 etc) is 1 the trip is a business trip.
than in the driving logbook app the "dropdown" list should be by default a "businesstrip" (but user should be able to switch it to private trip).
If the input was 0 during the trip, it should be a private trip.

Any ideas from other partners?

always cool to see how to solve such problems just by configuration (3 times threw the nose and back to the ears and so on ;-)

But we have also the problem: in private mode no gps data is allowed to collect, so this we could not solve... (without firmware changes)

personal data security law says: private mode = no gps data saved anywhere.
so not only reports but there must be no data in Wialon if user set private mode...

(impossible in my eyes to set this in Wialon)

we solved this just by special firmware which does not send any data to wialon if private mode was enabled.
problem here is that no data = no driving logbook... but for driving logbook of cause we need start and stop with odometer...
so personaly i did not find a practical solution for this exept if there would be something like:

define a sensor with flag "private mode switch". if wialon gets a message with this sensor = on, wialon calculates still internaly the odometer values but just not saves the data.  arghhh, i also dont know what would be the best... need to think about it...

maybe some other guys here have same same problem?

I propose next solution for private/business info:

We will introduce new sensor: "Private trip" that will be used for detection of private/business trips. In business(&undefined) trips Logbook will show info as it is now. For trips with activated private switch, all entries will just show the date & mileag.

Also we can optionally add auto-information form POI/geofences in visited Customer info.

we would also need the solution for new sensor “ Private trip”. It is very good idea. Currently for record of personal/business drive we are using digital input of GPS tracker that by the notification “Sensor value – Register units status” automatically write in application Driving Logbook as Trip status.
The problem is that in this solution are to Trip status written also other registered events like crossing of state boarders that are managed by geofence notification.

How about a button to automatically fill Notes with geofences/POI names avaible to user? e.g. if anybody is storing there customers information, to minimize manual entering. Will it be usefull for somebody?

Private trips will be selected automatically by sensor, and cant be modified manually. How with home/office drive?

home-office is a private trip by sensor or not?

if home-office-home can be organised by sensor that would be more cool (Tom Tom is doing that with a 3 button solution, 1 button = business, 2nd button private, 3rd button = home-office-home

in germany the home-office-home MUST be always one trip but i cant say for sure how it is in other counties...

I would like to ask you if it is possible to add into application Driving logbook (or to reports) information about crossing of borders.
Basically we need to give our customers information about when and where their vehicle cross the borders.
It is due to legislative reasons because employer have to pay for foot during foreign business trips.

thank you for answer but we do not need to know when the driver started from initial position of one country and when he end the trip in the foreign country, or how many hours driver spent in single countries.
We need to know when he crossed the boarders of single foreign countries. According to these information are calculated business trip costs in our country. We have this rule in our country according to our law:
- during the business trip that start and end in Slovak republic is determinig for calculation of travel costs  time of crossing the state boarders.

If driver drives the vehicle without stop then we can see in reports and also in Driving Logbook application only start and end of the trip but not the time of crossing the single state boarders (see attachment "Trip 1").
We already have created geofences for the countries to which our customers are traveling and currently we are trying to solve it using notification (entry a exit from geofence – Register unit status).
Unfortunately this solution is complicated, not working always and sometime it is mixed up in Driving Logbook application in column "Trip status" with business / private drives.

We have the same here in Germany: "employe" can get a "expenses" money for each day he does business trips and they depend of each country you are visiting. But i think that "driving logbook" would be the wrong place to solve this kind of reporting as "business trips calculation" regarding expenses and everything else is a very complex theme and for sure cant be solved with driving logbook.

Just create geofence report with marked "country" geofences and you get with one click the exact times the driver has spent in each country.

Hello Shal,
you are right that we do not need so much the information about crossing the state borders in the Logbook application. We need it mainly in the Reports due to export of data to CSV format in which the state borders crossing would be written. Most of our customers use external applications for calculation of business trip costs for single drivers and according to countries in which they were.  Therefore we need to know (and have record) where and when (place and time) the driver crossed the state borders.

We accept that Logbook application is not suitable for this. But we are trying to find some solution how to meet requirements of our customers.
In any case we are thankful for any answer.

We just updated Driving Logbook app

Now it uses another trip detection mechanism (same as Wialon Mobile App) and works much faster.
Another cool feature - auto detection of trip status using "Private mode" sensor or Home-Office geofences.

Also we're under development new print reports with additional information about driver/unit on it.

If you want to use previous app version you can edit app url in cms.manager from http://apps.wialon.com/drivinglogbook/ to http://apps.wialon.com/drivinglogbook/v1.6/

shal, you are right. had yesterday a presentation for exact this f*cking driving logbook think and they said: ohhh, our drivers need to do something manually and i said yes, thats the law, ohhh do you really think they will log into a computer and enter something???
so i said would they do it on their smartphones and she looked at me with big eyes and said: smartphone? we are happy that this guys can use their Nokia 1208 phones...

so the big question is: who really will use it or is it just a "ohh our competitors can do and we can do too but we know at the end nobody use it in real but its great for marketing".

as i remember only 2! of all of our users is using it regulary and in real. and not because we dont show them but because they understand that a written driving logbook you can fake. electronic you cant.

i am only thinking that its good for marketing...

The Accountant  needs  to get all the trips in excel/csv  format .
Today it is possible only to print the driving logbook report.

So I  propose the need  to export the logbook as excel/csv.

Be aware: Customers would buy tracking service only to get the tax discount they can get.
So it is very important to have it.

This is great feature to get Excel report for accountant to get Tax saving.
This feature should push the selling.
