*NEW*: App for Public Transport

I just back from a trip and checking forum. I really surprised by this new application and what you all do in Gurtam!
Such an application is very interested for me.
Just one question, is it possible to use it in WL or not?  Please do it as a way to be available from WL as General transportation is a part of government mostly and such  customers insist on their DC and local installation.

Although "wiaTrans" sounds nice to the ear.

alek, do you have any plan to add ETA to this new application? There is no ETA function in whole Wialon system and this function is very useful (specially for wPass).
Regarding WL integration i can't understand what is the problem with integrating some applications with it. I guess most data transactions between applications and Wialon is done via Remote API and most parts of API is same for WH and WL. May you explain the reason of delayed integration of Logistics or this new application with WL?

We "floated" this concept with small bus company for their thoughts.

This is one of 3 regional bus companies we are working with, city bus services for us use government systems. This may provide us an advantage for non government controlled ones.

They showed very keen interest - although they are not yet a customer, but will be in the coming weeks.

Had some feedback from a couple potential clients with suggestion of TransConnect or TCon/TransCon....

They don't just have buses they also have ferries, so thought it might better to be a bit more broad with the name rather than just bus focused.

Our new product is aimed both at state and private companies. But we believe that for the time being, our main customers will be transportation companies in small and medium towns, mainly private companies I think. In the end, it all depends on the region of the world: while in Europe this area is mostly equipped with some solutions, in other parts of the world there are still a lot of potential customers. And even in Europe, I believe, our new app may be rather competitive, at least in the terms of its cost (you pay only for the units, software is free).

And one more remark about "all inclusive" solution. We are software developers, and we provide software. You add hardware of your choice to this equation — and you sell it as "all inclusive" solution.

Actually this is just display, nothing impossible to implement such solution if you really need it for customer. You need:
- small PC-board, like raspberry (~$30)
- connect it to monitor like on the picture (~$70)
- do all the installations and wrap it beautiful in the bus (~$200)
+ develop software that run on linux-board, connect to Wialon via API and render this page via HTML (one time fee)

So, $300 or let say up to $600(EU price) per bus and you have such solution for your customer.

your solution is very good on technical point of view , but for company  like us ( without Soft engineer ) i was thinking that if it was possible to have few manufacturer of GPS Device  able to include a part of your proposal like connexion on Wialon API  and deliver information on our own Display . In this case ,it could be easier to propose a complete solution to the customer and also a lot of customer doesn't like to pay two Sim card on the same véhicule.

GE you may want to take a look at Streamax as their hardware is being integrated into Wialon.

We have some requests from customers looked for such application. I tried to summarize their requirements and combined them in my mind with what i know from whole Wialon system. Here is the result:

Web Application
-    Ability to register Bus Company details (containing custom fields) and binding buses to each company
-     Rating sub-system for each bus ach whole company based on company’s buses function in system considering criteria like number of completed routes per day, on-time arrival and departures, ECO-Driving etc. (violations and penalties may be defined like what we experience in ECO-Driving in Wialon)
-    Fetching unit’s data like Maintenance, Profile, Fuel Consumption, Custom Fields and sensors from Wialon
-    Defining stations detailed information including name, code, location (Lat & Long), type, address, station custom icon and photo, radius, custom fields etc.
-    Defining routes detailed information including name, type, code, stations and their sequence, mileage, width, custom fields etc.
-    Defining terminals detailed information including name, code, location (Lat & Long), type, address, terminal custom icon and photo, radius, custom fields etc.
-    Ability to use stations in more than one route
-    Ability to use stations in one or both route direction (A-B or B-A)
-    An ability to detect route direction (A-B or B-A) based on visited stations sequence
-    Total mileage and in-route mileage report for each bus and each company’s fleet
-    Monitoring and searching fleets by bus, route, region, online/offline, bound driver etc.
-    Pop-up detailed information for each bus on map including bound route information, number of completed routes and other parameters like Wialon’s pop-up
-    Reporting bus door status and count (including locations)
-    Notification and reports on bus schedule violations, crossing station without stop, number of passengers between two stations, time between bus departure from parking to arrival to route start point, time between bus departure from route finish point to route re-start point etc.
-    Full integration with Wialon Notifications and Reports modules
-    Smart analyzing of trips duration between stations and using it for ETA in system
-    Simplified customizable panel/application (like Sensolator) for display bus, ETA, previous/next bus in route, notices etc. in stations monitors

Passengers smartphone application:
-    List of routes, stations and each route stations and terminals.
-    Next bus ETA in selected station
-    Estimated trip time between selected stations

Thank for releasing the beta NimBus. It is a good effort. Here is my comment.

1. NimBus should allow importing of routes (not only bus stops) from kml/kmz. This allows easier migration from our existing system as we already have all the info/data.

2.Since we defined the buffer for the bus stop, e.g 50 meters, that bus stop is supposed to be good for both ways (inbound and outbound trips). The problem that I have with the beta is that the auto-created route seems to follow GIS routing. If the bus stop lat/long is on the other side of the street, the route will make necessary turn-by-turn navigation to get to the point. In my opinion, bus stops and routes shall be independent. This way, we can control the route easily.

4. NimBus should add the capability to set additional parameters in order to speed up the creation of schedule:-
- First Bus Service e.g 06:00
- Last Bus Service e.g 22:00
- Service Interval e.g 00:30
Then the schedule will be tabulated according to the selected pattern.

4. Please add a custom field for us to display data from our preferred Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) System. The APC data should be displayed in the monitoring panel within the line view.

NimBus is potentially a good app to monitor delivery trucks (scheduled or unscheduled) using line view, in addition to map view of the monitoring panel.

Could you add Truck as an option to choose in NimBus?

I have two big rail companies who would love this for their rail network.

I can see a number of uses for it, not only buses.

I can beta test as well for trains as we have the customer already.

We should give it a nice generic name.

And may you tell us which parameters we should pass to nimbus (from CMS) to open the application without authorization from Wialon itself.

hhamedk, opening NimBus from Wialon Hosting without additional authorization is not possible, because the app uses different technologies. However, if you type your login and password on nimbus.wialon.com once and let your browser remember them, then next time you will be forwarded to NimBus without any delay.

Nice option. Can bus company add the nimbus buses timeline on theyr website like Locator so theyr clients can see real time busses on theyr smartphones and computers if they visit bus company website.

alek, when new languages will be ready for NimBus in translation system? When you will release new languages for?

Hello.  I noticed the Nimbus app is geared towards owners, managers and dispatchers primarily.  In other words it's more of an operation tool really.  Any thoughts given to making it useful for the passengers as well?  What  I mean by this is that it would be great to put up an LED display at different stops or terminals for the passengers so they can see where the buses are in relation to the stop or terminal where the passengers currently are.  This would help inform the passenger how close or far the next bus is for them.

Showing the currently online route that covers their stop isn't too helpful also because there are no labels for each stop, just stop numbers so the passenger isn't too sure which stop the bus is close to.  Perhaps a stop name besides just the stop number would be helpful?  Also, perhaps the current address or location of the bus/es on the screen would help inform the passenger further.

Even more helpful would be perhaps ETA info for each bus for the next stop, taking into consideration the current traffic conditions.
