Topic: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Hello Gurtam team!

We use a lot the information from "Messages" (for data/performance analazing),  and it will be very useful to be able to have the option to export to Excel (xls).  Hoping you are agree with me!

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

jhdeguate and locationGPS, to get Excel files with messages, please use a special report table — Messages Tracing.

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Thanks Alek for your response...

Yes, we can use Messages Tracking to get vehicle and sensors information, BUT that is not what I am just looking for as I need to be able to export to "xls" all the information I can get from "Messages" for easy analizing (not for customers, it is for our thecnical/operations department); example:

1. Data messages  (I need this to export to xls)
1.1 Raw data  (I need this to export to xls)
1.2 Sensor values  (I need this to export to xls)

2. SMS messages (I don´t use them right now but it would be good to be able to export as well)

3. Sent commands  (I need this to export to xls)

4. Registered events  (I need this to export to xls)

5. Log  (I need this to export to xls)

I  hope now you get my point.
Regards,

Jary Hernandez

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

jhdeguate,
1. Messages Tracing table as well as standard export of messages
2. SMS Messages table
3. Executed Commands table
4. Events table (incleds registered events)
5. Log table

Please consider these reports and try to find everything needed in them!
If not, come back here and explain your difficulties in more detail.

Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Hello Alek...

I know the "Export Messages" supported formats are:

1) OziExplorer track(.plt).
2) NMEA messages (.txt).
3) Google Earth (.kml).
4) Wialon messages (.wln).
5) Wialon binary messages (.wlb).

BUT, I need you to add XLS (Excel) as well.

6) XLS

For US it will be very helpfull if you can do it.  Hope you are agree with me.
Best regards,

Jary Hernandez

Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Any updates con having this capability to export to Excel? I have been importing as txt file but the single data point that I can´t seem to convert/use correctly is the Date+Time .

Having the ability to export to Excel directly would be super helpful from a time consuming persepective and data analysis capability.

Thanks

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

@alek here´s more info as to why the ability to export to Excel would be useful:

When you export as txt and try to import it to excel, the only way to arrange data by column (IO per column) is to import using "comma" to arrange data, but in the event that the tracker sends telemetry for two different reasons, lets say one message is sent caused by change in course degrees, then a second message is sent caused by an EcoDrive event, then data will become offset once imported in Excel.

I am attaching a picture of what I´m trying to convey....I constantly use Excel to analyze Raw Data, but it can take me hours of cleaning up imported data due to to this issue.

Hopefully this helps understand the need to add exportin raw data to an .xls file.

Re: Export Messages to Excel (xls)

Dear jc.villalobos,

You could use the Reports instead of the Messages tab. In the reports, you need to create a new report for Unit with table type "Messages tracing". Once you run the report - all the registered messages will be available to be exported via Excel as a regular report.

Please let me know if that works for you.
