- Gurtam Maps Vector Modern Style (Beta) is a updated and attractive one.
Apart from the fancy appearance, the new vector styles load faster and allow adding new useful features in future.
Good day!
Today we've released the several features update :
- New Webgis Maps layers : last month, we released two new map styles: Webgis Maps Vector and Webgis Maps Vector modern style. And both are vector ones. You will see an extended list of maps and layers right after logging in. The new map styles will be tagged as New. Thus, it will be much easier to find and apply the updated settings.
- The latest API version support by the VIN decoder : we updated the current API 2.0 to the 3.1. As a result, now while decoding the vehicle’s VIN, you’ll get even more fields on the Profile tab automatically filled with essential unit information.
Good day!
Today we've released the new features update :
- We have added the ability to leave feedback on the Dashboard and vector maps functionality.
Sometimes your clients would like to suggest some improvements. To allow them to share their opinion directly and without leaving the platform, we have launched a tool to collect their feedback.
So, on the Dashboard page and vector maps, they will see an icon to enable a mini-survey on these options' work. The Dashboard tab is a feature that system users have been working with for only a year. To develop this tool, we must understand what data is missing. With the new option, clients will be able to inform us without leaving the Dashboard tab.
Good day!
Counters’ refinement is the new feature released at last update.
We released a refinement for counters. Now the relative sensors' values (relative odometer, relative engine hours) can be used from the previous message. It means that if the mileage and/or engine hours counter is set to a relative sensor, then the values from the previous message can be used in the parameters.
Good day!
This week we've released the following features :
- New blocks on Dashboard
There are 2 new blocks: Top units by fuel consumption and Top units by mileage.
The first block displays units from the Monitoring tab with the maximum fuel consumption by FLS for the specified period. The second block displays units from the Monitoring tab with the maximum mileage for the specified period.
- Events with regard to "Timeout" in mobile apps
Previously, the ignition sensor's Timeout value was not considered when calculating the events in the mobile app for Android and iOS. It could lead to the data difference in reports in the system’s web-version and a mobile app. Now, this value is considered, and data is consistent.
Good day!
Today we've released the following features :
Relocation of the fuel consumption settings to the fuel sensors settings
For you to be able to configure and accurately control the fuel consumption for special machinery with several fuel tanks, we relocated the fuel consumption settings to the settings of fuel sensors. It made the configuration process more logical and transparent as everything will be located in a single window (the settings of the needed fuel sensor).
Within this task, we also added the ability to bind sensors to sensors (engine sensors to FLS, engine efficiency sensors to the selected engine sensors), extended the fuel consumption calculation by math for FLS, and сhanged the import and export process both for sensors and entire units, so that you could, for example, import the previously exported units correctly. Also for the users to get even more information on a unit or group of units, we added new columns about Fuel consumption to several report tables.
Note! Current fuel consumption settings were retained and are now available for viewing and editing in already existing fuel sensors.
We will temporarily keep the Fuel consumption tab. There, we added a detailed tooltip for each setting with its current location in the fuel sensors.
Dashboard enhancements
So that the work with Dashboard was even more smooth, we slightly changed its interface.
Good day!
Today we've released the following feature:
New filter by geofences in the Images table
We added the filtration by geofences in the Images table. The new function will come in handy when the user needs to download photos for a specific period by each client (if the client is marked on the map as a geofence). Thus, you can view the needed information in the most convenient way.
Application example:
The company provides services and demands completed work proof via sending a photo. Each employee has a tablet with WiaTag installed. The worker sends the before and after work photos with it. To look through these photos conveniently, generate a group report applying geofence and unit filters.
Good day!
Today we've released the following features:
Dashboard in a separate menu tab
Previously, the Dashboard, a tool for tracking the status of units, opened automatically if there were more than 100 units in the work list. That was not always convenient, especially with a large number of objects on the map.
The Dashboard is a separate powerful tool with useful functionality, so now it is placed as a separate tab in the first place of the horizontal menu and no longer opens automatically. The Monitoring tab remains in the same place.
The data in the Dashboard is displayed only for the units that have been added to the work list.
Changes in the sensor properties dialog
Previously, all sensor properties were displayed in an additional dialog, and it took a user a long time to find the necessary properties.
Now we have changed the general view of the list.
First, we have adjusted the order of displaying fields.
Secondly, the window displays only those properties in which you can enter data right away. The fields in the object and report properties that appear upon activating other settings have been removed from the interface.
Improved search results in the Access tab
Previously, a user could search only by the unit name. In summer 2020, we significantly increased the number of search criteria, but the data looked rather chaotic, without any sorting.
We wanted to make the search and its results as comprehensive as possible. Therefore, we have added a drop-down list with search criteria: now a user chooses which parameter to apply.
Highlighting the most suitable property
We have returned the dynamic search function: when a user, creating a sensor, starts to enter the name of a property, the system highlights the most suitable option as he/she is typing, instead of waiting for a complete match.
One more improvement: now dynamic search applies to any parameter in the filter, not just the first one.
Good day!
Last update we've released the following features:
Introducing the unit type library
Previously, a Wialon user created unit type names on their own. It was time-consuming, and the name could be incorrect or misspelled. The use of these names in Wialon was very limited: they couldn’t be used to create unit groups, customize the interface, and so on.
We carefully analyzed all the unit type names that our users entered and created a universal library. Now the user does not need to invent anything: in the general unit settings, they select the right unit type from our list. If the selected unit is a vehicle – the user goes further and selects the right vehicle type in the Profile tab. These types will be displayed in the unit properties window, used as a filter in the CMS and in the worklist, applied for generating reports, and added as a new parameter in the calculator.
The data that the user has already entered manually will not be lost – it will be transferred to the Note field.
Unit type selection
In the General tab, a new Unit type field has been added, placed under the Name field. Using it, the user can select among the three unit types:
- Vehicle;
- from the Personal GPS tracker category: Person, Animal, Other;
- from the Stationary object category: Camera, Container, and so on.
Vehicle type selection
For the Vehicle unit type, we have added two fields to the Profile tab with a drop-down list:
- a higher-level field named Vehicle type on the left with values like Cargo transport, Passenger transport, etc.;
- a lower-level field on the right with more detailed characteristics.
For example, the Special machinery vehicle type, selected in the field on the left, allows the user to choose between Tractor, Combine, and a dozen of other types.
Transferring the current unit values
If you have already entered unit type in the settings manually, don’t worry, this data will not be lost. All the current unit values saved in the Vehicle unit type field will be displayed in the Note field. This field is located in the Profile tab and in a pop-up window (if the option is enabled in the user settings).
The Note field has also been added to the calculator and to the report containing profile information. These fields are exported and imported, including data transfer via API. The other applications such as Logistics can access the data contained in them on request.
Setting up a unit on the Video tab
In the unit properties, there is a tab with video settings. The tab is used to view connected cameras, edit their numbers, and rename them. Information about cameras can be updated and changed, so it is important to provide quick and convenient access to their settings.
Besides, the option with video settings is present on all the other tabs associated with the unit.
Therefore, we have aligned it with the rest of the interface.
What we have done:
- the unit properties icon is added on the pages with video streams;
- clicking on the icon displays a dialogue window with the unit properties;
- while the window is open, the stream stops and resumes after the window is closed.
Good day!
Last update we've released the following features:
Authorization in Wialon Hosting via third-party apps
Previously, a Wialon Hosting user could log into his/her account by using the Wialon login and password. It was quite inconvenient when they used a single corporate account for all their applications and systems except Wialon which required a separate login. In our previous update, we expanded the functionality with the Google login feature.
This time we went further: now a user can log into the Wialon account easier and faster via a third-party app.
Connecting via Auth0
At the current moment, third-party apps gain access to Wialon via the Auth0 provider connected to our platform.
To enable a client to enter Wialon via a third-party app account, first, a Wialon’s partner should connect their application to Auth0. Once it is done, they need to contact our technical support at support@gurtam.com so that we handle the necessary settings on our side. After that, the partner’s clients will manage to link their third-party app account to Wialon and log in to the system’s account much faster.
If you want to use another provider to log in or connect your application directly to Wialon, please contact our technical support at support@gurtam.com.
Linking an account for authorization
Once a user connects his/her application to Auth0, he/she can link the account from this app to Wialon. The process is similar to linking a Google account.
- An additional field appears on the Security tab in the user settings.
- The user enters the third-party app account credentials in the field, thus binding the account to Wialon.
If connecting the new authorization method is done correctly, a new field appears in the user settings. It contains the email address which will be used now to log in.
The user can easily remove the link to the account with a special button.
The new button on the login page
The new link button with a custom name appears on the login page. The text on the button can be changed, for example, it can be set like: Login with [the app’s name].
Good day!
Today update we've released the following features:
Wi-Fi positioning
When the GPS system cannot determine the unit geolocation, we have added unit coordinates detection with the help of Wi-Fi access points.
How Wi-Fi geolocation works
Now devices that support Wi-Fi-based positioning can send data about the closest Wi-Fi access points to the Wialon platform. The data is used for detecting the unit coordinates.
For this location option, you have to configure certain settings of the system.
A user should go to the Advanced properties tab in the Messages validity filtration section, select the Determine location by Wi-Fi points option.
Then a user indicates the minimum and maximum amount of Wi-Fi points the signal of which Wialon should receive from the unit.
The Accuracy parameter specifies the accuracy of the unit location to be considered valid.
Here is a step-by-step description of how the Wi-Fi geolocation process looks like:
When a device with the enabled Determine location by Wi-Fi points option finds itself between multiple Wi-Fi points, it sends a message with the information about the access points. The purpose of the message is to determine the unit location in relation to the Wi-Fi points.
Wialon determines the coordinates. The system processes the data about the access points, tests them according to the pre-set criteria, and selects the valid ones. Wialon takes the selected points and sends a request to Google Maps to receive the unit coordinates.
Wialon replaces the coordinates in the message. If the data does not meet the established criteria of accuracy, then Wialon leaves the message in its original form.
Turning on the Wi-Fi positioning feature, it's worth keeping in mind its natural limitations.
For some operations – for example, a trip calculation – Wialon requires positional data: speed, altitude, satellite info, etc. If you determine the unit location with Wi-Fi coordinates, you cannot take the rest of the data from GPS. Therefore, Wialon won’t be able to determine, let’s say, trips (stops and parking) using Wi-Fi geolocation.
Some types of notifications won't work either, for example, speed notifications. Therefore, Wialon will consider messages with Wi-Fi coordinates only when it is relevant. Primarily it concerns:
- tracks;
- notifications of the Geofence type;
- the columns of reports with addresses and coordinates.
Automatic vehicle type detection
In February, we announced the creation of the unit type library in Wialon Hosting. The idea to launch such a library is to facilitate work with the system for every user.
Now, Wialon can automatically determine the vehicle type. You don’t need to select it yourself – the system will do it for you.
In the future, Wialon will be able to determine other unit types, for example, personal trackers.
In order to teach Wialon to determine vehicle types as accurately as possible, we need to collect as much data from our users as possible. For users with the right to edit the unit properties, we suggest going to the Profile tab and check the vehicle type determined by Wialon.
The more users interact with this parameter (confirm or reject the proposed vehicle type), the more precise the automatic unit type detection will be.
Good day!
Last update we've added new columns which were missing in the user’s work.
Driver column
Among the report templates, there is one generated on driver groups where a column with the information about a driver was missing.
We have added the Driver column which displays the driver’s name in the following tables: Bindings, Custom fields, Driver activity, Infringements.
Trailer column
We’ve added the Trailer column to the Bindings and Custom fields tables for the Group of trailers report template, which displays information about the trailer.
Passenger column
We have added the Passenger column to the Bindings table for the Group of passengers report template, which displays passenger information.
Event type column
We have added the Event type column to the Events table in the Unit and Unit group reports.
If an event is registered manually – this can be done through the Events Registrar or by registering any event from the online notifications window – the user assigns it one of the 5 proposed types.
If the event is generated automatically, then it will be assigned one of the event types described here.
User column
The user is the one who registered the event manually or the one who created the resource, for which the event was generated automatically.
The User column has been added:
- to the Events table for the Unit and Group of units report types;
- to the Infringement table for the Unit and Group of units report types.
NB: the user must have at least minimum rights to view the item and its main properties. If he/she doesn’t have them, a dash is displayed in the column.
Initial mileage, Final mileage, Initial engine hours, Final engine hours columns
The request to add such columns to the Geofence table for the Unit and Unit group report types and the Unit table for the Geofence and Group of geofences report types looked very reasonable to us.
Now the user can see the parameters of the mileage sensor and the absolute engine hours sensor at the time of entering and leaving the geofence.
Good day!
Last update we've realised the following features:
Improvements to single sign-on
The single sign-on (SSO) technology allows logging into the Wialon account through a third-party service, for example, Google. When logging into one account, the user gets access to the others associated with it, without re-entering data.
We have recently implemented this feature in Wialon Hosting. But the necessity to manually connect the Wialon account to a third-party one in the user settings made the feature not as popular as expected.
Now we made the authorization process via a third-party service as transparent and clear as possible: after you have logged into the service, Wialon Hosting offers connecting it to the Wialon account. Changes are automatically saved in the user settings.
You can remove the connection at any time.
Link to the Huawei AppGallery on the login page
The Wialon app for Android is now in the Huawei AppGallery. The platform icon is placed next to the App Store and Google Play icons on the Wialon Hosting login page. One click and you get to the app page in the Huawei app market.
Hi everyone!
In the last couple of updates we have delivered the following functionality:
The calculator UX improvement
We worked on the calculator’s design in reports:
1) required fields (column name, formula) are now marked with an asterisk. The user sees right away what data is necessary for saving the configurable column;
2) if a field contains an error, the field itself gets highlighted, and not the text in it. This is a more common way of data validation, which the user immediately recognizes;
3) if a formula is too long, a scroll appears after the sixth line. This way the field looks neat and doesn’t occupy the whole screen;
4) the calculator block design has become more attractive due to reduced spaces between its elements.
Fuel consumption settings transfer
We have deleted the Fuel consumption tab from the unit properties. Now the settings are located in the Sensors tab, in the properties of the corresponding sensors.
We moved fuel consumption settings to sensor settings in November 2020. But the tab remained in the unit properties to ensure that users would get used to configuring each sensor, including fuel consumption, in a single window.
After checking the statistics, we saw that you feel confident enough with the change, and now it’s time to remove the Fuel consumption tab from the unit properties once and for all. And we did it.
Search in the unit type library
We have already introduced the unit type library. You no longer need to make up names for your vehicles in Wialon Hosting and check their consistency across the platform. Now you can choose the right unit type in the library. Wialon Hosting displays the unit type name in the unit settings, uses it as a filter in the CMS, in reports, as a search tool for units in the list, and as a new parameter in the calculator.
The library’s unit type list is quite large. To simplify and speed up searching for the right unit type, we’ve added tools to search the list and use alternative names of unit types for it. For example, you want to add bus as a unit type. Start typing bus in the search bar, and the system will come up with passenger bus (this is how the unit type is represented in the library), which you can select in the unit settings.
Looking forward to your feedback on all of these nice improvements!
Hi everyone!
In the latest update we have delivered the following functionality:
1. Map with unit location and movement during video streaming
We’ve already shared with you details about the new Wialon video module. But we continue working on its functionality.
This time, we’ve integrated a map that shows the location of a unit, its movement, and speed. In addition to watching a live stream from an MDVR, you can also track the unit on the map.
To open a window with a map, you need to click the corresponding icon. The icon is located in the same tab as a video player with a stream from a connected vehicle. So you don’t waste time switching between the tabs.
You can switch the map to full screen or zoom in and out on specific areas.
2. View the last selected transport types
As the unit type library is getting more popular, we are working on making it as user-friendly as possible.
For example, it would be easier to fill in the unit characteristics if you could see transport types used recently. That would allow you to quickly find and select the types with which you work regularly without searching for the needed option among the 70 available items daily.
So we’ve added a new Recently used section to the library. It contains the types that you’ve already selected in the Unit type field. The number of types in the Recently used section is unlimited; they are arranged alphabetically, can be deleted, and automatically added again.
Looking forward to your feedback on all of these nice improvements!
Hi!
This week we released the new version of Wialon Hosting with the following new functionality:
Simplifying work with multiple sensors in the calculator
Earlier, if you used several sensors of the same type, you would occasionally face difficulties in your work with the calculator. For example, two FLS were installed on the unit, and separate columns displayed values for each of them. If you wanted to make calculations of, let’s say, fuel costs using a formula in the calculator, the latter would automatically use the value of only one sensor with the smallest ID in the formula.
Indicating the necessary sensor wasn’t so easy. For this, you had to filter sensors by their masks (in this case, it was impossible to use the values of several sensors in one table) or to carry out other difficult manipulations. Also, it wasn’t evident which sensor value was used in the formula.
Now it is much easier to indicate the required sensor in the formula. You need to select the right sensor, the data from which you need for calculations, and then refer to its name in the calculator. Also, now you can use multiple sensors of the same type in calculator formulas.
Hi!
This week a new version of Wialon Hosting was released:
Playback and video file saving from several MDVRs on a unit
As you probably remember, the new Wialon video module allows users to watch up to 24-hour long playbacks, as well as save video fragments from them in the cloud storage.
But what if there are several cameras installed on a unit? Imagine that your client has a semitrailer in their fleet featuring 5 MDVRs on it. Once an accident happens, the client needs a complete picture of what was going on. How to watch videos from all the cameras in the same interface and get the information in a single video file?
The new and important functionality allows users to watch playbacks from several cameras using the same timeline and save them as a single file.
Watching playbacks
Now you can go to the Playback tab in the Video tab and choose cameras the playbacks from which you’d like to watch.
The timeline highlights the absence or presence of video fragments for a given time period. Click on the time you need, and you’ll watch playbacks from the selected cameras on the same screen.
Saving video files
Videos from several cameras can be saved as a single file. Select the MDVRs you need and click on the Save to files icon.
If the camera doesn’t have video for a certain period, you’ll see a black screen instead of this camera footage.
Expiration for a password reset link
To make Wialon a safer platform, this time we’ve paid attention to the password link expiration. Previously, the link sent to the user’s email didn’t expire. That was a problem in terms of security protocols.
Imagine a situation where you forget the password to your Wialon account and request a link to do that. The email containing the password reset link is sent to you, but you forget to use it or maybe eventually change the email address. At the same time the link remains active. So anyone who gets access to your inbox can use your Wialon account.
Now the reset password link expires after 2 hours. If you try to use it beyond this term, you’ll get a notification that the link is invalid. Also, the link can be used only once. It expires once it’s been used to change a password.
If an attacker gets access to your inbox, the new approach makes it harder to use your Wialon account for them.
Hi everyone!
Last week we have released an update of Wialon Hosting with the following features included:
Working with images in report tables
Some businesses require photo proofs in their work. Waste management companies, retailers, delivery services, you name it. In the past, when such a business received a complaint, be it solid waste non-removal or a bad retail display, managers had to look through tons of images per unit to figure out who was in charge and what went wrong.
To make it easier for your workers and save their time, we’ve added a new Images column into tables in reports on unit groups, geofences, and groups of geofences. A report features images grouped and linked to a specific event depending on when they were sent to the server.
Even if a business has dozens of trucks or hundreds of merchandisers, all they have to do is request a report on a specific geofence to learn who worked there and what the result of the work looks like.
You can save multiple images to your PC or choose a single one. The report also contains information such as the date, time, and place where the image was taken.
Now a sole report replaces hundreds of them generated for each unit. An image you need can be found and saved in a couple of clicks.
Video markers
A marker is a special icon; its design informs about an event (for example, fuel theft), while its location on the map indicates where the event happened.
This time we have worked on video markers. When a video file is saved automatically or manually, a special icon marks where the video was recorded.
For example, you replay the previous 24 hours of the footage and find a one-minute episode with a driver exceeding the speed limit. You save this video fragment. If you build a track on the Tracks tab or create a report, this video fragment will be displayed in the form of a marker.
By clicking on the marker, you can watch the video and check when, where, and with what tag it was saved.
