Hello Everyone,
Hope you guys are doing well. I would like to ask if somehow we can have the maintenance data retention for a longer period of time.

Basically it is an ability of the system to store maintenance data for more than 3 years, While the standard unit history can remain at 3 months. Now knowing that the locations were stored for 3 months we cannot take it away that the maintenance should be available for longer period of time.

Question if I run maintenance report for last January till June 2017 (2 quarters) will I able to get the data?
What could be the possible solution for this?

Hi, andro.tuason.

Apologies for such a late feedback to you question.

The retention of the unit messages in Wialon fully depends on the account settings and the billing plan you have. The minimum is 3 months whereas the maximum can reach up to more 600 days (WH Units billing plan).

With this said, it becomes clear that in your case there is no way to get Maintenance report for the defined period, as your plans allows to save unit messages for only 3 months.

I would like to add that we are currently reviewing the whole Maintenance module and elaborating on extending the period of time for the maintenance data to be stored. Most likely that in this case we will be targeting unit events data rather than its messages.

Hello,

Regarding this and as a future reference we have implemented our own backup system.
We start on 2016 and we have the units data until now.
Our service is based on GB/month independent of the number of units.
We have this implemented due a customer need to store data for 5 year as a legal proof.
The only backwards is that the data can't be visualized on wialon on demand in just one click. If we need to see this data we got to import it on wialon again, thus visualization is on demand but limited to a certain amount of data (as a special requirement or in case of particular event). In the other hand, if you don't need to visualize the data, we can analyze the data without restriction in our own database, here we can run any query to the entire range.

Hi All

Moreover, this makes sense for customers who has a lot of maintenance records and information on the platform.

In terms of vehicles service and maintenance, having 3 months of data is useful but possibly not enough in some cases.

For example, in analysing wheel degradation, measuring the service history of vehicles before reselling, and others.

Let us know how this goes, interested on how the newly visualised module will work!
