All of us have a situation when we have units which you do not need to monitor. Consequently, you do not want to pay for these units. There is a way out to solve this problem, but it takes much time: you need to add a unit, then you need to delete the unit (previously export all the data).

We made a decision to add a feature for deactivating units to simplify facilitate working with them. This feature will be available only for users in CMS such as TOP and Dealer.
Units deactivation

Deactivated units will be hidden and unavailable for use in Hosting. You can get a list of deactivated units only in CMS. So, you will not pay for these units.

Restrictions for a new feature:
- Units deactivation will be available when payment is for units.
- You always need to pay for a base of 50 units, because the base is included in the cost of all features in Hosting.
- You can deactivate max 50% of all created units.
- You can deactivate a unit only for 90 days. The unit will be activated after the expiration of this period.

So I'd like to ask our community if this functionality will be useful for your business, what kind of issues you can solve with this new feature?

shve, the idea seems to what we offered as blocking units not accounts, am I right? What you planned for that and will you add this feature to WL aswell?

We remember your post "Blocking Units by Days/Balance". This post a little bit same, but the main idea is different. Our idea consists that you can deactivate unit which you do not need to monitor in some period of time. For example, there are units which use in agro, construction, etc.

Hamed, this is the feature for Wialon Hosting only. On Wialon Local (one time payment) you are not charged monthly for 30-day periods and, thus, this extra feature makes to economical sense to you.

Hi,

I started to open wine and call friends to start the party BUT I saw limitation of 90 days.-.....

I have real scenario; we have company boats that only work in summer season... so those 90 days for us is like having double work as we will have to delete even having this option..

For us still not useful..we will have to delete the device still.

sad

Can be more time?...if not we are in the same situation.

Hello,

Good to know about this, I thouhgt it was "closed" already. the perfect time "as many as client need".

Season cases normally (boats renting, snow machinery...and so on) up to 10 months; maybe less but sometimes snow comes too late and only is 2/3 months.

Own company rented cars
: maybe more than 1 year till they have new car or new projects to work in.

for us, no time limitation would be the perfect thing.

Dear partners,

Unit deactivation has been added to the February's beta. You have a month to test it before the feature is added to the Stable branch of Wialon Hosting Customer Management System (CMS).

Here is a short memo on unit deactivation:
- The feature is available for Top and Dealer Users only.
- Unit deactivation is available for a billing plan allowing to pay for each created unit individually. It is unavailable when you pay for a package of units at once.
If you are interested in the new feature but pay for a package of units according to your billing plan, you can contact your sales manager, and he will help you.
- The feature’s dialogue window is located on the “Units” tab in the CMS.
- The total number of deactivated units should not exceed 50% of the available units for the Top account.
- A unit can be deactivated only if a user has "Edit connectivity settings" access right for this unit.
- You will not pay for the unit history when the unit is deactivated because it won’t be available for the use.
- History storage period will not change. All messages will be stored according to the billing plan.
- Google Maps: you do not pay for the deactivated unit.

You can test "Unit deactivation" right now. We’ll be glad to have your feedback!

Units may be deactivated for the period of less than or equal to 90 days. When the unit is activated after 90 days, you can deactivate this unit again.

For the period of deactivation it should be set by date not days. So if I want to deactivate a unit in February i have the option to put an activation date of say 1st November 2018. However I belive that there should be a limit of how far out the deactivation can go and this should be no more that 365days in my opinion. Longer than that is should be deleted. Plus it should allow for a notification to be sent to alert administrators based on user requirements some time before the actual activation happens.

We added your idea to our backlog. When we have any news, we will notify you.

Could you give more details: do you want to get a notification, when you log in CMS, with the list of activated units and units which are activated soon?

Thanks for adding the item to the backlog Maksim.

If it can show up in CMS that would be great but only the units that are going to activate in say the next month is all that is needed. No need to list anything else.

It seems that we have something like that you need. Now in CMS deactivated units, which will be activated soon (7 days and less), have information coloured in red in the "Deactivation" column.

Dear partners,

    We will add a separate service for the “Unit deactivation” option. This decision was caused by internal technical issues. By the way, it will be useful for you too because now you will be able to control the dealers access to the “Unit deactivation” option. You will also be able to set limits on the number of deactivated units, similar to the service for units, geofences, etc.
If you are using our new feature and have already deactivated some units, all units will remain with their status after a new billing service will be added to the Stable branch ( at the beginning of April) together with the “Unit deactivation” option.
One important note: you need to contact your sales manager for activating the new billing service in your TOP account.

We are about to take on a customer who will need to able to turn deactivate/reactivate seasonally based on tourist/non-tourist seasons.

Thought I'd review this option in CMS for greater understanding, however I do not see this option in the CMS Development portal?

I am logged in at our highest account level, see attached image.

Hello Alan,

Early I wrote that we had decided to add the separate service for the “Unit deactivation” option.
So, If this feature is essential for a new client, you need to contact your sales manager for activating the new billing service in your TOP account.
