They have airline certified HW, use Iridium for tracking and costs you a few hundred USD per month (for commercial flights).
you can also ask Leo from Radioterminal.Ru (look in my FB contacts), he told me that there is a very cool russian solution which is much cheaper.
With 2way communication in airplanes i have no idea. It will costs you even much more than the simple tracking.
(EDIT: this one can via Bluetooth send and receive message with a smart-device)

And the price is also ok, just 2000 USD :-))) but i am sure you will get a discount of 10 % or so as a dealer...
Problem with all "ground solutions" is, that the HW is restricted to speeds below round about 350 km/h so that you can NOT use it for aircrafts / missiles etc.
