In our markets (West Africa) we have a huge challenge with physical adresses which generally are non-existent or highly inaccurate.
A couple of customers brought a solution to our attention: what3words (http://what3words.com/about/). We would suggest to Wialon to add it as another adress source besides Here, Yandex and Visicom.
what3words is a unique combination of 3 words that identifies a 3mx3m square, anywhere on the planet.
For example Gurtam's HQ in Minsk adress is:
- physical: 79 Pritytskogo st., Minsk, Belarus
- GPS: 53.905764, 27.456979
- what3words: vocally.daily.gadgets
Besides english, this system is available in other languages (french, russian, spanish, portuguese, swahili, turkish etc.). So it could be used by Wialon partners across the world wherever there is an issue with physical adresses (non-existent/inaccurate). It is also usefull in situations where physical adresses aren't sufficient enough (ex: delivery must be done at a precise location in a huge park)
This system has started getting some traction (for example last week they signed a partnership with express delivery company Aramex). Among the things that makes this adress system very attractive are the fact that 3 words are easy to remember for end users and also that anyone who has a smartphone with a gps chip can get his what3words adress even if he doesn't have an internet connection on his smartphone. This is a huge plus in our markets where internet is still expensive (1GB mobile data costs between 10 to 20 usd).
