At the moment we are sending messages when we get a new location or user sends a photo, position, SOS, QR code or NTS-pay. Hence, the logic of sending a message when the location services are changing their state, or the application is closed is not supported in WiaTag at the moment. We will add the request to the backlog, however, please be informed that we aim to keep iOS and Android apps coherent to each other and the proposed solution does not solve all workarounds that end-user may do in order to stop location tracking or app usage. Hence, that is a matter of debate if we are to implement the requested feature. As noted earlier there are certain pre-assumptions that OSes have that limit our involvement in what the end-user may do with her cellphone.

Pavel Bushuyeu, you are developing WiaTag for markets not to just develop an application to show off. I think you should consider your partners feedback as we are in direct contact with customers. What Wolf explained is true, most of customers consider WiaTag doesn't work well while their employees do things to prevent the boss to monitor them. In such a situation we have to prove this is not a WiaTag fault at least.
Although i really don't believe that requested functions can be a reason to use MDM software but just to note, regarding MDM software there is a big problem, cost!

One of our customers told us that their users are "activating" the power save mode when the energy of the phone is low, however they are not sending the locations stored in the black box until very late. Because of this the customer can't see the real time tracking of their people and asked us to "hide" the power save mode, or make the password needed to activate the mode.
Is there a way to solve our customer issue?

We collected in our WA Group after testings the following additional "needs" for WiaTag...

here are the collected WiaTag enhancements:
- Build in DriverChat
- Some kind of messages if Software was stopped, activated, GPS deactivated, SW killed
- Better and easier Configuration via Remote
- Remote configurable "Checklists or Forms".
- an ability to add a checklist as a form of precheck when the wiatag first starts ir when detects charging. This way if a fleet of trucks is using mobile handsets, they can do a safety checklist checkoff in any truck before they actually start the trip.
(last two points make also sence in Logistics, but also in WiaTag!)
- checked points on a Form / Checklist must be send to Wialon with location and timestamp to be available in Reports!
- Forms should be remotely sended to device together with device config
- its should be possible to choose between the forms. Not only one Form.

Last version of WiaTag (1.7.380) on Samsung A7 doesn't upload black-box messages automatically (sending mode is set to By Timeout) . We down grade the WiaTag to version 1.4.330 and it works. please check.

WiaTag iOS Update: Service, location, and crash statuses.

Dear users of WiaTag,

With a current update of WiaTag you may turn on ‘Location and service statuses’ in Additional parameters to send the messages with the following parameters:

• Service status
• Location services status
• Crash report

This feature is aimed to provide a higher level control of how the application is used and reveal the cases of compromise intentional or unintentional.

Here is how to enable the function:

Settings → Additional parameters → Location and service status

1. Service status parameter

Service parameter will come in the message when the user turns on or turns off the service:

In Wialon they appear in Messages:

See filtered by 's_on' messages:
's_on=1' — the service is turned on
's_on=0' — the service is turned off

This will tell us that the user was turning off the service.

2. Location Services parameter
Another way how user may compromise the usage of the application is by turning off 'Location Services' in the phone's settings:

In this case the parameter in the message will be “ls=1” for turning on location services, “ls=0” for disabling location services.

3. Crash status parameter

Finally, if the app crashes, the message will come with a parameter and value “cr=1”

(for the demonstration purposes we have created a build that crashes one the “+” button is hit)

Please, keep in mind that the message with the Location Services and Crash status will come with once the application is running.
As an overview I will mention once again 3 new parameters that are now avaliable in the 'Location and service status' of Additional settings:
ls=0 — location services turned off
ls=1 — location services turned on
s_on=0 — the service is tuned off
s_on=1 — the service is tuned on
cr=1 — the crash has occured

Glossary:
Location services — location settings of the iOS, Settings --> Privacy --> Location Services (on/off) or choosing a Location Services setting for the given application from never, only while using the app, always. For the correct work of the application 'Always' should be chosen.
Service — turning on or off the switch of WiaTag on the main screen
Crash — unexpected stop of the application functioning and exit.

The function is turned on by default for the new users of WiaTag. Existing users will need to activate it in the settings.
Similar functionality will appear on Android devices with upcoming updates.

I have an idea seem simple to add in WiaTag. What you think if we have an ability in WiaTag settings to set password only for administration settings or all settings?

We are reviewing WiaTag settings at the moment. Password will be needed for the User mode with several permissions: view, select, select+edit, select+edit+add and delete, for General Settings password will be required at all times.
