Topic: Temperature sensor solution

Hi Forum,

We have a solution ready for max. 16 Temperature sensors ( Dallas ) on a Tracking unit.
Resolution is in 0,1 degree steps

The 16 Temperature sensor will be connected to a very small sized ""box""  5x4x2 cm ( see picture )

Communication with the Tracking units is ""Wireless"" up to 50 meter.

The solution can be used to control larger amount of cooling houses, wireless connection between Cooling Trailer and Trucks, etc

Just contact me ( Baltika ) if you have any questions..

Of-course we will bring the solution to the Conference Telematics 2012.

What means "wireless"? What kind of wireless technology is used (e.g. Bluetooth...)?

Wireless means ""radio"" signals/communication ..NO Bluetooth or Wifi etc ...

Distance can be about 50 meter , this is safe distance ...but 100 meter is also possible .

We use for monitoring in open air ....but also as ""wireless"" communications between Truck&Trailer .

So your solution is proprietary. It's a pity (at least for me) sad

Re: Temperature sensor solution

I'm looking for sensors which can be addressed from mobile devices. For example, my tracker (a Wiatrack Pro derivative) can connect to the CAN bus using special adapter. This adapter is relatively expensive and is an "overkill" for many of my customers. So I'm searching for similar solutions.

Re: Temperature sensor solution

there is a solution available from flextrack.dk and already implemented in Wialon,

They use 868MHZ active rfid-tags with configurable output power and build in temp/humidity sensors.

We have some devices here running on tests.
You can use them also as simple rfid-driver-tags etc.

Nice technology, only a bit pricy...

Re: Temperature sensor solution

Hi ,

Can anyone share how to install a Temperature  probe sensor in a Refrigerated truck ?

Re: Temperature sensor solution

hi Yasintha,

can you explain a bit more what you want to do exactly?

there are two different methods to capture temperature, first is to use "modern" serial data from the refrigirator modul (like thermoking etc), they have some special serial data which you can read with some hw from teltonika (5300) for example.

other (much more easy) way is to use a gps tracker with 1wire connection and just install (up to 16) temperature sensrs by 1wire and just add sensors in device configuration.

her at aliexpress you can get waterproof 1wire sensor for 2USD :-)

Re: Temperature sensor solution

Hi Wolf ,

This is the first time for us to install Temperature sensors , we are planing to go with 1 wire sensors ,
It would be great of you can advise on ,
01. Installation methods  ( Recommended extension cables , should we drill the truck's cooler compartment ? etc)
02. Calibration
03. the issues you have experienced .
04. Any recommended digital / wireless sensors ?

Thank you very much in advance

Re: Temperature sensor solution

Hi
01. Installation methods  ( Recommended extension cables , should we drill the truck's cooler compartment ? etc)

its 4 wire cable if you use Dallas 1Wire, if you drill a little whole and use some glue its no problem!

02. Calibration

if you use 1Wire temp sensor you dont need to calibrate (thats in my eyes the biggest reason why to use 1Wire)

03. the issues you have experienced .

it just works. Easy!!!

04. Any recommended digital / wireless sensors ?

We use them from aliexpress... works fine (together with FM11 GPS Tracker)

Thank you very much in advance

Re: Temperature sensor solution

You need to be careful regarding the environment you are deploying into as we have had some issues with the temperature sensor hitting 3000 which is an error condition. We also connect to the refrigeration unit and capture if the unit is on or off using a digital in. Depending on the type of product you may need to use multiple temperature sensors eg one in the product pallet to measure actual product rather than air temperature. For multiple sensors we use the FM5500.
