GPS Device Installer Testing

Topic: GPS Device Installer Testing

Hi,

We outsource all of our devices installs to automotive electricians.

We have recently changed hardware providers, and we are wondering what processes other Gurtam partners are using to check their device's during and after installation. Our previous hardware provider offered an installer page that allowed installers to search a device's status by its serial number, as in the image attached.

We are now using Teltonika devices and we are having the installers call us to check that the device is online and functioning as expected, however, we found the old process with the installer page to be much easier, as installers were able to check digital inputs and device voltage etc without having to call.

How do you guys tackle this?

Regards,

Taylor

Re: GPS Device Installer Testing

Hi Taylor

My first question is out of curiosity - why have you moved away from Digital Matter as your hardware provider?

In answer to yours, there probably aren’t too many vendors that operate a protocol in the same way that you would’ve experienced with DMT (ie. unless you were using a complete 3rd party server integration with no requirement for OEMserver), so an installer check page isn’t a common thing. Best advice would be to understand all of the message syntax from your new Teltonika devices and check their status when they first added into Wialon. You will get all the same information from your device in Wialon as you do from the DM installer page, you just have to know how to use it.

... were you using your DM devices in Wialon? Via an OEMserver connector or with direct 3rd party integration?

We are also look for a solution like this.

In addition, we are hoping the installer can use the Wialon mobile app to enter the actual vehicle's plate number after the installation is completed.

Anyone has any solution or in similar situation?

Re: GPS Device Installer Testing

Great share my friend. This really helps me as I can test the tracker by turning it on and checking your location on the GPS software to see if it's correct. By installing a GPS tracker on.
