Teltonika FMB120

Topic: Teltonika FMB120

Hello Teltonika fans

We quit using Teltonika FM1100 four years ago because of constant freeze issues. Some of them still running without problems so why some work and some don’t are still a mystery for us.

Anyway, 4 years had passed and we thought to test their new product line FMB120 with fancy FOTA and everything. So we took 100 devices for testing.

Big was our surprise if after 100 test devices were installed it turned out that 10% of them had random freeze issue (every 10-th device froze).

Wow 4-5 year of research and development and Teltonika still could not figure out how to fix the freeze issue described here: https://forum.gpsgate.com/viewtopic.php?t=14754

Could not believe my eyes. One of our clients could drive only 1 hour and a total 20 kilometers after installation and the device froze in the middle of driving.

The info is simply put here to warn everybody whoever wants to use Teltonika devices then you have to consider that you are buying literally ticking time bombs and you never know when they go off.

If you want to have constant issues then yes Teltonika is the right product for you. But if you want to run carefree service then any odder device is better than Teltonika. That’s our experience.

We have tested several made in CHINA devices but currently, FMB120 outperforms all of them and not in a good way.

Appreciate if you can share your experience here regarding Teltonika FMB product line.

Re: Teltonika FMB120

Hi...If everything works ok then don't do a firmware update! One mistake during a firmware update and you'll end up with a bricked system. If you must update then leave it to your dealer to do at your next service, if they make a mistake then it's their fault not yours! Map updates are ok but firmware updates are a no no. I am suggesting this because I have also tried updating firmware by myself and ended up with an issue and upon checking I found it is because of the PCB Assembly of the board, which is not compatible with the compilers which we use in our systems for firmware update.

To update the maps inside Teltonika fmb120 it's really cool idea... What maps do you suggest for Teltonika?

Re: Teltonika FMB120

Also having a bad experince with these.

We have 500+ Teltonika units out in vehicles, the FMA120's were very reliable for us.

However the new FMB120's we are having to make alot of service calls to them because they are freezing and not showing on our server after a few days... when we visit the devices the lights are flashing as if the unit is working, they are not connected to the GSM network and when you view them in the configurator you can see a large number of fixes queued for sending, so i know the GPS is working. Once i reset the device it sends all fixes to the server.

Firmware Version:  03.18.16

Hello Matt123

100% same issue and we also used Firmware  03.18.16

Something wrong with the data sending part, feels like GPRS issue.

Re: Teltonika FMB120

Is anyone having issues with FMB120 since January 1, 2020? Before that the FMB120 devices were rock solid for us. We haven't had any issues whatsoever since first installing these in July 2019.

Starting January 1, 2020 the devices are not updating like they are supposed to anymore.

If you are talking about updating data on the server,  then try to use the "cpureset" SMS command.

Command format:
If a username and password have been set:
login _space_ password _space_ command

If you do not have a username and password, then 2 spaces are required before the command.
